FAQ

Welding joint problem handling: no light emission due to gas leakage?

Performance:
Red light is normally visible. When in the welding state, after pulling the trigger, the gas is released and the wire is fed (although the red light will disappear at this time), but the laser does not emit light

Root cause analysis:
Logically, when the gas is emitted, the light output signal will also be sent out. When the laser does not receive the light output signal (port failure) or there is a problem with the laser, it will not output the laser

Solution
Firstly, if the laser does not sound an alarm, it does not mean that there are no problems
If the red light is a point, please prioritize checking whether the 15V power supply is reversed or damaged (by checking the power status or directly measuring)
In principle, after the enable/analog/PWM signals of the control box are sent out, the laser will emit light. Therefore, we can take a look at the monitoring page.
In standby mode: The output signal is 0 and there will be no fluctuation.
In working state: All output signals have numerical values, indicating that the control box is normal. If the problem occurs externally, contact the laser manufacturer directly for handling.
(without monitoring function)
We can use the diagnostic function to independently enable/PWM/analog signals and measure whether the signal is emitted while in the working state, i.e. releasing air or wire.
(Please make sure to unplug the laser wires from each port of signal interface three during measurement)
If the above signals are normal but still do not emit light, contact the laser manufacturer for assistance.
If one of the enable/PWM has no voltage, they can be used together, such as connecting the PWM to the enable signal pin.
If there is no voltage in the analog signal and the red light is a line, return it to the factory for repair or replace the motherboard.
If there is no voltage in the analog signal and the red light is a point, check if the ± connection of the 15V switch power supply is reversed.

Welding joint problem handling: handling of various signal alarms

Specific manifestations:
The homepage is experiencing alarms and cannot be used, including temperature alarms for various lenses/motors, and alarms for water coolers/air pressure/lasers

Root cause analysis:
Temperature related alarms are usually caused by the thermal sensor not being properly inserted/damaged or the lens being damaged, while water cooler/air pressure/laser alarms are usually set at the wrong level

Fault handling

① Temperature category: generally refers to lens temperature alarm. Usually, check whether the lens is damaged first, replace the damaged lens. If the lens is normal, directly block this alarm in the settings. Set the corresponding lens temperature alarm threshold to 0 in the settings and save it

② Level category: generally refers to chiller/air pressure/laser alarm

The alarm logic of the level will be compared with your set level based on your wiring method. If there is a difference, an alarm will be triggered. Please note that the alarm signal only accepts passive normally open and normally closed signals, and do not input voltage

Usually, alarms occur due to incorrect alarm level settings. Simply change the corresponding alarm level.

If an alarm occurs despite receiving an alarm signal and no matter how it is changed, the alarm signal should be unplugged and set to a low level.

Welding joint problem handling: abnormal motor swing

Problem phenomenon:
① After power on, the welding head tail motor makes whistling/swings abnormally in red light/heats up/cannot adjust the swing width.
② Directly burning out the lens results in the sealing ring and focusing lens being burned out simultaneously.

Cause and solution of the problem:
The driver inside the control box controls the motor swing, which is linked through motor wires. In the event of signal errors (poor motor wire contact, open circuit), external interference, or mismatch between the driver and motor, problem ① may occur.
If there is a problem with ②, it is recommended to check the surrounding interference sources. If no interference source appears, it may be a motor wire fault, and the motor wire can be replaced directly.
① Poor contact between the connection wire terminals of the driver and motor (SUP20S model)
In the welding gun of SUP20S, the built-in connection terminal is used, and poor contact may cause abnormal signal and whistling. Try unplugging and plugging it again.
② The connection wire between the driver and the motor has a broken circuit in the five core aviation plug (SUP15S model)
On the welding gun of SUP15S, the motor signal and power supply are connected through the aviation plug interface (two black wires). The aviation plug interface should be disconnected to check whether there is any fracture or virtual welding on each welding pin of the vehicle.
③ Prerequisite: If the oscillation is normal, there is no flashing red light, and the wiring is confirmed to be correct, then it indicates that the driver and motor are not matched or interfered with
This type of equipment that appears on newly installed equipment or equipment with replaced gun heads can be improved by adjusting the potentiometer of the drive.

Adjustment method: When powered on, use a straight screwdriver to turn in one direction. If there is no response after more than 10 turns, turn it back to reset, and then continue to turn in the other direction.
If there is no response when adjusting the seventh potentiometer, then adjust the fourth potentiometer from left to right for a long time

Welding joint problem handling: motor does not swing

The normal light spot is transformed into a light spot line (left) by oscillating the motor. If the motor stops oscillating, a dot will be displayed (right)

Root cause analysis:
One Is the software part set correctly
Settings - Scan Correction: 1.25
Process - Scanning Width: Welding System 3-5, Cleaning System 20-150
Home - Indicator Red Light: On

II Hardware inspection (first installation)
1. The power supply of the swing motor is 15V power supply. We should first measure whether the power supply of the 15V switch power supply is normal. In addition, the 15V switching power supply is divided into positive and negative, and incorrect wiring can also cause the motor to not work. Connect V1 to 15V+, V2 to 15V -, and any COM on the 15V switching power supply to pin 2 GND!
2. (Model SUP20/1S/T/C) Check if the two interfaces of the connecting cable are properly plugged in and if the position on the driver board is correct. Shake the plug and check if the rainbow connecting cable between the motherboard and the driver is loose.
3. (Model SUP20/1S/T/C) Check if the rainbow connection cable between the motherboard and the driver is loose, and if the driver's light is always on.
4. (Model SUP20/1S/T/C) Check if the black motor wire plug under the gun head is loose.

III Hardware inspection (using devices for a period of time)
1. (SUP15S) If the power supply is normal, it is usually caused by a circuit breaker. The control box and motor are powered by a 2-core wire. Focus on checking the aviation plug of the 2-core wire and open it to see if there is a circuit breaker
2. (SUP15S) When there is no problem with the 2-core wire, check the signal aviation plug of the 5-core wire and also open it to see if there is any open circuit
3.1 Check the circuit section and measure whether the voltage at each port is normal The following must be powered off and unplugged!
The socket of the main control board is responsible for supplying power to the driver board, mainly measuring the voltage of ports 9-13 and 22-25.
3.2 Driver board socket, (note: be sure to set the swing speed in the process to 60 and the width to 3mm), then mainly measure the voltage values of pins 7/8, between 6V-15V
3.3 Two core wires with 1/3 pins below the tail plug of the motor (equivalent to the voltage of pins 7/8 in the figure above).

Welding joint problem handling: Copper burning nozzle

Root cause analysis:
During the welding process, heat diffuses to the copper nozzle causing damage. The treatment process should first analyze the source of heat, such as lens astigmatism, red light deviation, or external material thermal conductivity.
Solution:

Before processing, it should be ensured that
① Red light is centered (polarization can cause light to hit the mouth);
② Appropriate scanning width (usually within 5, usually set to 3);
③ Focus 0 (with a scale tube of 0).
1. Emit light to the ground from a distance and check if the copper nozzle is hot. If it is not hot, it indicates that the lens is not faulty and there is no astigmatism. If it is hot, the damaged lens needs to be replaced.
2. If the welding is hot under the normal conditions mentioned above, it indicates that the material is thermally conductive during welding. In actual use, the outer corner copper nozzle is more prone to damage than the inner corner, and a purple copper nozzle can be used.
3. Welding techniques also affect heating, so try to weld the joint and material at a 45 °∠ angle.
4. High reactive materials such as aluminum plates can also cause the copper nozzle to overheat, which is uncontrollable.

Welding joint problem handling: burning protective mirror

Performance:
In a short period of time, the protective mirror is damaged and burned, and there are point like defects on the light output surface of the protective mirror, appearing as black or white medium black spots

Root cause analysis:
Due to the influence of non original lenses/processes/techniques/settings, damage is caused by slag reflection, and in rare cases, it is due to abnormal laser light output

Solution
① Appropriately increase the air pressure, usually with a flow rate of no less than 15 and a pressure of no less than 4. It is recommended to use an oxygen pressure gauge with a flow rate of no less than 2 kilograms;
② When welding, try to weld the gun to the plate at a 45 ° angle, not perpendicular;
③ Set parameters to give gradual rise and fall as much as possible, such as opening/closing gas delay of 200-500ms, opening/closing light power of 20%, opening/closing light asymptotic time of 200-300ms, and cannot be set to 0;
④ When welding aluminum and galvanized sheet, this material is more likely to damage the lens than other materials, and the minimum power welding should be used.
⑤ The quality of protective lenses also determines their durability, and when dealing with such issues, we should ensure that they are our original factory lenses.
⑥ At high power, compared to low power, the loss of the lens will increase, which is an uncontrollable range. If it is double wire welding, the scanning speed should be reduced to around 160.
⑦ When none of the above can be handled, the F200 focusing lens can be replaced and the wide scale tube can be extended to reduce splashing.

Welding joint problem handling lens damage

Root cause analysis:
Usually, it is caused by damage to the welding gun lens, including but not limited to protective lenses, focusing, collimation, and reflection. Any one or more of the damages may cause this situation to occur.
First, replace the protective lens and check the focus, then check the reflection and collimation, and replace the damaged lens.
Sparks at the copper nozzle may be a focal issue and should be ruled out first.
Also, check if the laser fiber head is dirty or damaged.

Analysis of lens damage:
1. Classification of damage: Abnormal motor swing caused by interference, or unadjusted red light deviation, usually the sealing ring will burn out together.
2. Damage to the convex surface of the platform lens: It is generally common due to contamination, such as unprotected replacement, resulting in dot like black spots.
3. Flat damage to the platform lens: Due to diffuse laser reflection, most of it is caused by reflection, which forms a focal point on the lens and burns out the coating, resulting in white spots. Convex surfaces also have this form, and the formation principle is consistent.
4. The damage to the protective mirror is usually caused by slag reflection and contamination during replacement.
5. Due to the sharp Gaussian beam of the laser, abnormal light output occurs. This is usually caused by a sudden white spot appearing in the middle, with any lens in the center

Fault handling:
Replace the damaged lens. Please refer to the structural installation for the replacement plan
How to avoid:
In handheld welding, the most frequent replacement is related to the lens. To prevent damage, the following preventive measures should be taken:
1. Using original lenses, customers often cannot guarantee transparency when purchasing them online.
2. Pay attention to preventing contamination when replacing.
3. Try not to weld vertically, especially when welding high reactive materials.
4. Protective mirror damage: preventive measures.
5‍. Timely replace damaged protective glasses.
6. Prevent interference and effectively ground.
